Timothy Hehir Obituary

CHELMSFORD - Timothy J. Hehir, 59, a Chelmsford resident who had owned a payroll service business in Lowell, served on a number of regional boards, and held other executive positions, died of complications due to colon cancer yesterday, Sept. 12, at Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Bonnie (Fuller) Hehir, with whom he would have celebrated their 36 years on Oct. 22.

He was born in Lowell on Dec. 16, 1942, a son of Margaret (Connors) Hehir and the late John J. Hehir. He was a graduate of Chelmsford High School in 1960, and went on to graduate from from Boston College with a bachelor's degree in marketing and a minor in finance.

Over the years he worked for Burroughs Corp. in the Boston South Shore office, and ownedf Small Business Payroll Service Inc. in Lowell. Most recently, he was the chief operating officer of Retro Fit Inc. in Milford.

He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.

He was a member of Nabnasset Lake Country Club in Westford and the Chelmsford High School Alumni Association, and was a past member of Vesper Country Club in Tyngsboro.

Mr. Hehir had previously served as president of the Industrial Planning Commission with the town of Chelmsford, chairman of the Chelmsford Planning Board, and chairman of the Northern Middlesex Area Planning Commission.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Kathleen A. Hehir of Redondo Beach, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, T. Shawn and Debra (D'Antonio) Hehir of Dracut; a sister and brother-in-law, Anne Marie and Michael Gillis of North Andover; a brother, Fr. J. Bryan Hehir, president of Catholic Charities U.S. National, of Alexandria, Va.; a grandson, Connor Joseph Hehir of Dracut; two aunts, Catherine F. Hehir and Mildred M. Hehir, both of North Chelmsford; and two nephews, Ryan M. Gillis and Timothy J. Gillis, both of North Andover.
