Timothy Swinson Obituary

Westford

Timothy M. "Tim" Swinson passed away unexpectedly at Tufts Medical Center in Boston on January 10, 2024 at the age of 71.

He was born in Gloucester on February 8, 1952, a son to Virginia F. (Rowe) Swinson and the late Howard J. Swinson. He was raised in Gloucester, attending Beeman Memorial and Maplewood Avenue Elementary schools, Central Grammar and Gloucester High School. As a child he participated in little league and pee wee football.

Tim is a veteran of the United States Army, joining in 1970 and serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the United States he eventually worked for NYNEX at night, while attending Suffolk University during the day, graduating Cum Laude in 1982, earning a BS in Business Administration.

He knew his way around the kitchen and had a love for food and cooking. He enjoyed summer vacations at York Beach, ME with his family. He liked long drives, always taking the scenic route and sometimes taking a turn "just to see where it goes."

He loved to laugh, make others laugh, and fart. He also had a gift to gab! He had a strong passion for golf and enjoyed the company of his brothers, friends and co-workers on many courses in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He especially enjoyed his golf trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida. Regrettably he never really quite mastered hitting a fairway wood!

Tim is survived and will deeply missed by his two children, Meara Swinson of Easthampton and Erika Swinson of Ayer; his sister, Lynne Graham and her husband Russell of Reading; his brother, Jack Swinson and his wife Laura of Rowley and Glenn Swinson and his wife Kim of Manchester, NH; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was the father of the late Conor Swinson, who passed away in 2015.

Tim's family would like to express great thanks to the Lahey Clinic Transplant Department in Burlington for their compassionate care of Tim through his multiple organ transplants.

Relatives and friends are invited for viewing hours on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 10AM until 12PM at the WESTFORD HEALY FUNERAL HOME, 57 N Main Street, Westford. His funeral service will be celebrated immediately following in the funeral home. Burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tim's memory to Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Office of Philanthropy, 529 Main Street, 4th Floor, Charlestown, MA 02129.
