Visoth Kim Obituary
"Beloved Father and Grandfather,
Prominent Cambodian Civil Rights Advocate"
CHELMSFORD -- Visoth "Chea" Kim, 64, of Chelmsford, died after a long battle with a serious illness on Friday, November 9th 2012 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the former husband of Soben Kim.
Born June 11th 1948, in Cambodia, he was a son of Tun Dang and the late Horn Kim. He was educated in Cambodia and the United States, where he later became a teacher and farmer.
He came to the United States in 1981, originally settling in Malden. He and his family later moved to Chelmsford, MA. He was a hard worker, and he worked two jobs to support his family. He was a teacher in Lawrence, and he worked in electronics manufacturing. He enjoyed gardening. He was a philanthropist donating to charitable organizations for needy families in Cambodia and a strong advocate for civil liberty in Cambodia. He sponsored Cambodian families to the United States to give them the same opportunity, and fulfill the American Dream.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his 5 children; Somurphy Kim of Lowell, Sophy Poisson of Chelmsford, Michael Kim of Chelmsford, Somphearak Kim of Lowell, Sambo Kim of Lawrence and 10 grandchildren.

ADDITIONALLY A VISITATION WILL BE HELD FRIDAY 1:00 PM AT THE GLORY BUDDHIST TEMPLE, 24 CAMBRIDGE ST., LOWELL, MA 01852. SPIRITUAL CEREMONY COMMENCEMENT FRIDAY 5:00 PM AT THE GLORY BUDDHIST TEMPLE. ON SATURDAY MORNING 8:00AM HIS FUNERAL WILL BE HELD AT THE GLORY BUDDHIST TEMPLE FOLLOWED BY THE BURIAL IN THE WESTLAWN CEMETERY.
