Mr. William Roderick McClure, Sr.
of North Chelmsford, MA, Air Force vet; 75

NORTH CHELMSFORD -- Mr. William Roderick McClure, Sr., of North Chelmsford, MA, died Tuesday evening, November 16, 2010 surrounded by his loving family and friends at Genesis Westford House in Westford, MA.

He was married to Mrs. Donna M. (Hanson) McClure and they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on September 19, 2010.

Born in Arlington, MA on March 4, 1935, the son of the late Walter R. and Ruth (Harkins) McClure. He was raised in Arlington, MA and attended Arlington Public Schools.

He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War stationed in Germany, he was honorably discharged in February 1956.

He was employed for many years as a Bus Driver with Greyhound Transportation in Boston until his retirement in 1992.

He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA. He was a member of H.E. Fletcher Club in Westford, Massachusetts Drivers Union, and the V.F.W. Post 1775 in Arlington, MA.

Mr. McClure was an avid sports fan who loved watching the New England Patriots, but was happiest spending quality time with family and friends.

Besides his beloved wife, Donna, he is survived by two sons and their wives, Ronald L. and Leslie McClure of Pepperell, MA, Robert J. and Joan McClure of Milford, NH; two daughters and their spouses, Deborah Morrison and Dr. Raquel Alvarez of Chelmsford, MA, Dawn and Kenneth Walsh of North Chelmsford, MA; a daughter-in-law, Diane McClure of Tyngsborough, MA, a brother and his wife, Robert and Annette McClure of Chelmsford, MA; two sisters, Patricia Darcy of Arlington, MA, Kathleen MacCormack and her partner, Thomas Muldoon of Chelmsford, MA; 12 cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Tonra Walsh Riehl and her husband, Sean, David Walsh and his wife, Erin, Kenneth "KP" Walsh and his wife, Jeanie Havens, William Walsh and his partner, Katie Campopiano, Edward Walsh and his fiancée, Keri Littlefield, Amber Walsh, Ajay Schmidt, Billy McClure, Sarah McClure, Jackson McClure, Carmen Riethman, Samantha Montello; one great-grandchild, Shea K. Riehl; many nieces, nephews and close friends, including Annie.

He was the father of the late William R. McClure, Jr. of Tyngsborough, MA who died May 16, 1992, the brother of the late, Ruth Colton of Carver, MA who died in November of 1996.

McCLURE -- William Roderick McClure, Sr., of North Chelmsford, MA, died November 16, 2010. Visiting hours Friday 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Saturday at 9 a.m. from the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME, 106 MIDDLESEX ST., CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, N. Chelmsford. Burial in Memorial Cemetery, Tyngsboro. Memorials may be made in his name to the Merrimack Education Collaborative c/o Tomorrow Work Services, 20 Linnell Circle, Billerica, MA 01821. The McClure family lost a very special person. We loved him dearly. The Red Sox nation lost a big fan. I lost someone to give a hard time to about sports.
