Ann Gropp Obituary
Ann E. Gropp, 76, of La Porte passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born on Sept. 27, 1948, in La Porte to James A. and Thelma (Lotter) Fritzen.
Ann loved working with students as a special education assistant with the La Porte Community Schools – La Porte High School. Ann was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Rolling Prairie, where she taught Sunday School for 20 years and sang in the church choir. Ann also loved foreign films.
On July 25, 1970, in Rolling Prairie, she married Roy D. Gropp, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding in death were her parents; brother, Eric Fritzen; brother-in-law, Denny Emmert; and daughter-in-law, Missy Nash.
Surviving are three children, Gregory Gropp of La Porte, Brian (Karen) Gropp of Fishers, Indiana, and Timothy (Laura) Gropp of Fishers, Indiana; sisters, Lynn Emmert of Syracuse, Indiana, and Amy Bruce of Glendale, Arizona; sister-in-law, Susan Gropp; brother-in-law, Ronald Gropp; and grandchildren, James Gropp of Fishers, Adele Gropp of Fishers, Indiana, Andrew Gropp of Fishers, Anna Gropp of Fishers, Cordelia Nash of Orlando, Florida, and Isabella Nash of La Porte.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, 219-362-3100. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Dear Family and Friends, I knew Ann and Roy at La Porte FUMC and so much appreciated the love and kindness they shared with me and so many others. I am sending my condolences and my prayers for your comfort and peace.

Ann was my cousin, she was quite a bit older than me and I always looked up to her. She always made me feel good about myself and often told me that I could do anything that I wanted to do, and to not give up on my dreams. I know that she will be missed by everyone who knew her, myself included. She probably didn't know it, but she had a very big influence in my life. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
