Barbara Jonas Obituary
Barbara Mary Jonas, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on June 30, 2024, at Brickyard Health-La Porte Care Center.
Barbara was born on March 31, 1936, in La Porte, Indiana, to Robert and Elizabeth (Parks) Brown.
On Jan. 15, 1955, in La Porte, Indiana, she married Robert Jonas, who preceded her in death. Surviving Barbara are her two sons, David Michael (Lisa Mathelier) Jonas of Berwyn, Illinois, and Ron (Megan Blakley) Jonas of La Porte; four grandchildren, Christopher Jonas, Jeremy Jonas, Tyler Jonas and Sara Jonas; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Holm of Alumsville, Oregon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Mandy Olse; nephew, Tim Holm; and brother-in-law, Tom Holm.
Barbara worked as an administrative assistant, starting at Allis-Chalmers directly out of high school followed by more than 20 years at Selective Gift. Barbara was a Cubs fan and enjoyed many years playing bingo throughout La Porte County. Most importantly, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Bob Vale officiating. Burial will follow at Door Village Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the family c/o Mike Jonas, 2900 Monroe Street, La Porte, IN 46350, or to the donor's choice.
