Barbara M. Riggs, 80, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at 11:20 p.m.
A celebration of life gathering will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
Barbara was born July 17, 1944, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Wilbur and Andrea (Pliske) Wagner. In 1984 she married David Riggs, who preceded her in death on March 28, 2013.
Barbara is survived by daughter, Jeanne Wagner of La Porte, Indiana; son, Andrew Cratty of Chattanooga, Tennessee; daughter, Amy Wagner of Michigan City, Indiana; stepsons, Jeff Riggs and Danny Riggs, both of Michigan City, Indiana; grandchild, Anjelita (Jon) Needler of Chesterton, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jack and Aleida Needler; four sisters, Janice Jovanovic of Three Oaks, Michigan, and Linda Kissinger, Carol Wagner and Mary Susan Wagner of La Porte, Indiana; and her brother, Michael Wagner in Arkansas.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Andrew R. Cratty; and brother, Thomas Wagner.
Barbara retired after 25 years at Criterion Catalyst, Michigan City, Indiana.
Barbara was smart and a meticulous artist with her passion evident in the beautiful crocheted afghans, hats and scarves she created and gave to her family and friends. Barbara also enjoyed oil painting, playing the violin and cello. Barbara had a talent for flower gardens and loved to travel to new places. Barbara was easy-going, very giving, enjoyed every minute of her retirement and was the kind of woman that could pick up where you left off with any visit.
