David Henry Theodore Meyer, age 94, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2024, at Westminster Village in Muncie, Indiana.
He was born on May 12, 1930, in Stockton, Illinois, to Rev. Armin Meyer and Clara Meyer (née Korn). He married Malinda Foege on Sept 1, 1956, in Pocahontas, Iowa, officiated by her father, Rev. Henry Foege, and his brother, Rev. Luther Meyer. David graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City, Indiana, in 1948. He and Malinda were proud residents of Michigan City, Indiana, for more than 50 years and served as active members of St. Paul Lutheran Church where they enjoyed singing in the choir together.
David served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War at K-55 Air Base as an X-ray technician. Later he was employed by Allstate Insurance and retired as a senior agent after 34 successful years.
David designed and built the first A-frame home in northern Indiana. He loved family excursions, having visited all 50 states and more than 40 foreign countries. He was very fond of classical music. In retirement, David enjoyed volunteering at Vans for Vets and delivering Meals on Wheels. His greatest enjoyment was golfing, fishing, recreational flying and shooting nine-ball billiards.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Malinda Meyer (née Foege); and his older brothers, Ambassador Armin Meyer, Rev. Luther Meyer and Paul Meyer. He is survived by his children, Daniel Meyer, James (Sara) Meyer and Jennifer (Bruce) Everetts; along with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to a service of remembrance at Greenwood Cemetery Chapel in Michigan City, IN 46360, on May 12, 2025, to reminisce and honor the life of David Meyer.
