2022
On Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, Demi Mae Galvin, loving daughter and sister, passed away at the age of 15. Demi was born on May 7, 2007, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Kenneth Galvin and Rochelle (Miller) Smith.
Demi had a strong love for animals, many of which she had rescued during her lifetime. From cats to hamsters to ferrets to chinchillas, she always poured her heart into each animal she called her own. Additionally, Demi had a keen interest in hairstyling and manicuring, and had hopes of one day becoming a beautician. Her sense of humor was strong enough to make anyone laugh, even on a hard day. She was known for her infectious smile, her kind heart and her strong love for others. Demi enjoyed being around her family and friends, never letting anyone doubt how much they meant to her.
Demi was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Kenny Rice; her maternal great-grandmother, Mary (Ludwig) Arndt; her uncle, Maurice Galvin Sr.; her cousin, Maurice Galvin Jr.; and special family friend, Jackie Hanrath.
Demi is survived by her parents, Rochelle (Waddell) Smith and Kenneth (Inez-Berry) Galvin; her siblings, Dakara and Dakayla Galvin, Kyren and Destiny Miller, Karter and Kelden Smith, Nechele Raye and Kyle Lambert; her stepsisters, Abrielle and Aubrea Smith; her maternal grandparents, Gary and Rebecca (Ardnt) Miller; her paternal grandmother, Deborah Ann Galvin; her nephew, Caige Patty; and her soon-to-be-born nephew, Major Henderson, whom she was so eager to meet. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be Friday, Oct. 7, 2022, at 1 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 730 W 6th St., Michigan City, Indiana, 46360. Viewing will be from 12 noon until time of service.
