Edward J. Sienkowski, 76, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at 1:45 a.m. in Center for Hospice, Mishawaka, Indiana.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, with Rev. Walter Rakoczy officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. The Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Monday in the funeral chapel.
He was born Sept. 24, 1948, in La Porte, Indiana, to the late Edward and Josephine (Zelenka) Sienkowski. On April 5, 2024, in San Pierre, Indiana, he married Cheryl (Gallas) Childers who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.
Also surviving are two sons, Norman (Kathryn) Sienkowski of Greeley, Colorado and Matthew (Elizabeth) Sienkowski of Portage, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Josephine and, Charlotte Sienkowski; and two brothers, Daniel (Darlene) Sienkowski of South Bend, Indiana and Thomas (Stephanie) Sienkowski of Michigan City, Indiana.
He was a salesman at Lochmandy Ford, Knox, Indiana. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, San Pierre, Indiana and attended St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Michigan City, Indiana. Ed enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Kankakee Valley HOG Chapter.
As a founding member of the E-Z Tones 50 years ago, he loved playing Polish music on his concertinas with his brothers Dan, Tom and his son, Matt. Ed received the Heritage Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution toward the enhancement of Polish-American Music and was also inducted into the World Concertina Congress Hall of Fame.
