Jean Martin Obituary

Jean A. (Jeannie) Martin, 63, of Michigan City passed away on Feb. 6, 2026, at Regency Hospital, Portage, Indiana.

Jeannie was born Feb. 7, 1962, in South Bend, Indiana, to Beverly H. and James A. Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her partner, Tim Sischo; and brothers, David Martin (Terry) of Henderson, Nevada, and James A. Martin II of Seattle, Washington.

She is survived by her brothers, John (Jack) Martin (Nancy) of Danville, Illinois, and Theodore (Ted) Martin of Michigan City; as well as beloved nieces, Jennifer and Kristin Martin of Chicago and Jill Martin of Frisco, Texas; two great-nephews, Max and Sam Carlson of Chicago; as well as her good friend, Heather Burton of Michigan City. She is also survived by a stepdaughter, Amber (Brandon) Uzunoff of Mishawaka, Indiana; and a stepson, Adam (Danae) Sischo of Williamston, South Carolina. She was also a beloved grandmother to five step-grandchildren, Christian, Caitlynn, Aeris, Axel and Hank.

Jeannie was a 1980 graduate of Rogers High School in Michigan City. She studied at Purdue University Northwest. She was employed for many years in the printing industry and most recently in customer relations at Four Winds Casino.

Jeannie loved all the many pets she raised over the years. She enjoyed fishing, playing bingo, crocheting and loved doing puzzles and playing games with friends and family. She had a great love of life, a quick wit and an infectious laugh. In spite of many health challenges, she was always positive and found great joy in her family and friends. She loved to laugh and have fun.

A celebration of Jeannie's life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and funeral services will be at 3 p.m. with Pastor Jack Andrews officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the American Kidney Foundation or a charity of donor's choice.
