Jeffrey "Jeff" Lynn Ellis was born in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Carrie E. "Catliver" Anderson and Marion "Buddy" Wright Ellis on June 1, 1970.
On Feb. 28, 2005, in Las Vegas he married his soulmate, Brenda Ann Daniel.
Jeff attended Michigan City Area Schools from pre-school through high school. He also attended college at Ivy Tech Community College.
Jeff was a loving devoted husband, father, paw paw, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle and friend. He was a happy soul who never met a stranger and always made you laugh. He loved driving around town with the love of his life, "Chevy," which is his red 2006 Chevy Silverado Z71. He would be out and about town daily talking to old friends, family or even someone he just met having conversations about his three favorite topics, which were politics, family and food. He considered himself the "grill master" and received countless compliments on his barbecue.
He loved road trips with family, fishing, doing yard work and small home projects. He also loved a good debate, which he did every season, defending the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. Jeff enjoyed attending Sunday service for worship. He was a member of Pleasant Hill MB Church for more than 20 years where he not only worshiped, but helped with the maintenance and lawn care.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving devoted wife and best friend, Brenda A. Ellis; daughters, Jazzmine Lynn ("E"velle) Cheeks of Oahu, Hawaii, Shadenae Daniel of Atlanta, Georgia, and Shanterria Daniel of Michigan City, Indiana; son, Xavier Ellis of Washington, D.C.; bonus sons, Omisemon Coleman of Atlanta, Georgia, and De'Mario Bivens of Michigan City, Indiana; bonus mother, Mattie Wilkins; six grandchildren, JaKayla Duncan, Zxaire Ellis, Milan Harris, A'brionce Coleman, "E"velle Cheeks Jr. and Monroe Bivens; brothers, Darnel (Patricia) Ellis and Steve Ellis, both of Michigan City, Indiana, Marlon (Cynthia) Ellis and James Ellis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cary "KK" Arnold of Detroit, Michigan, and Mario (Linda Kaye) Ellis of Michigan City; brother in-law, Jerry (Elaine) Daniel of Michigan City, Indiana, god-brother, Dawon Hatchett Sr. of South Bend, Indiana; sisters, Connie (Steven) Sanders of Noblesville, Indiana, Doris (Vernon) Metcalf of Michigan City, Indiana, and Charlene (Clifton) Spicer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters in-laws, Mary (Robert) Daniels, Marilynn Smith and Julia Arnold, all of Michigan City, Indiana, Amy Daniel of Norwalk, Iowa; lifelong friend, Craig McCray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
