Judith Ann Buehrer, 84, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Northwest Health-La Porte.
She was born July 17, 1939 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Victor Carl Schultz and Alma Elverta (Bealor) Schultz, who preceded her in death.
A lifelong resident of the area, Judith was a graduate of La Porte High School, class of 1957 and continued on to Ball State Teachers College, earning her Masters of Education. On July 31, 1965, in La Porte, Indiana, she married the love of her life, Frederick "Fritz" Buehrer, who survives.
Judith began her elementary school teaching career in Door Village, moved on to Mill Creek and finally retired from Indian Trail Elementary in La Porte. She was a lifetime member of Salem Chapel United Methodist Church, actively involved with the church's Retreads group and the Pie Ladies, making double crusts and cream pies for the County Fair. Judith was also a member of the Odd Fellows Rose Rebekah Lodge, La Porte, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, River Valley Antique Tractor Club, the Chapter 33 International Tractor Club and the Sunday Farmers. She was an avid reader and enjoyed counted cross stitch.
Judith and Fritz loved going square dancing, playing cards and traveling around the U.S. towing their camper. Her favorite destination was the Rocky Mountains, which she visited many times. For 18 years, she and Fritz spent three months camping in Dade City, Florida, as "snowbirds," returning to Rolling Prairie in April. Judith's greatest passion, though, was her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who will miss her dearly.
Along with her husband of 58 years, Judith is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Lee and Edward Barnes of Mill Creek, Indiana, and Sarah Ann and John Worthington of North Liberty, Indiana; brother, Vencil Carl Schultz (wife Janet, deceased) of La Porte, Indiana; two grandchildren, Kyle Lee Barnes of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Adriana Rose Barnes-Clizbe and her husband, Michael Clizbe of Sellersburg, Indiana; and great-grandchild, Waylon Lee Barnes.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana, where the family will receive friends for a viewing on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service celebrating Judith's Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the funeral Home, with Tara Keene, Salem Chapel, officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, Indiana.

I´m am so sad to hear of the passing of Mrs. Buehrer. She was my kindergarten teacher at Mill Creek. I feel so privileged to have known her. I am a kindergarten teacher and hope that I can be just half as amazing as she was. Praying for family and friends as they navigate this difficult time.
