Margaret Ann Glassley, 99, of Westville passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023.
She was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Kokomo, Indiana, to James and Nina (Reser) Peck. On Jan. 7, 1951, in Rochester, Indiana, she married Robert B. Glassley, who passed away Aug. 30, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Jane Bachman of Westville, Mark (Kim) Glassley of Westville and Kathie (Lyle Lowery) Nichols of Union Mills; seven grandchildren; and 13.5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Margaret was a member of the Westville United Methodist Church, the Home Economics Club in La Porte, was a founding member of the Lady's Circle of the Westville United Methodist Church, and volunteered at the Westville United Methodist Resale Shop for many years. She volunteered and donated much of her time also, serving Meals on Wheels with her husband.
She was retired from Westville Elementary School where she taught for many years. Prior to teaching, she was a county home demonstration agent.
Some of Margaret's favorite pastimes included swimming, writing, traveling, sewing and spending time with her family. She loved storytelling and especially reading to her students after lunch.
A memorial service for Margaret will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 7, at the Westville United Methodist Church in Westville. Pastor Toby Guill will officiate. There will be a gathering with the family in the Family Life Center from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service in the church.
