Michael Scott Williams, 40, of La Porte passed away unexpectedly at 5:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at Franciscan Health Michigan City.
He was born July 23, 1981, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Michael H. Williams and Patricia A. (Wojciechowski) Williams.
Michael attended and graduated from Marmion Military Academy, Aurora, Illinois. He was an alumni of Culver Summer Camp, Culver, Indiana. Michael attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, East Dundee, Illinois, where he also attended grade school and met and married his wife, Ashley. Michael served as vice president of his family's business, A&A / Securall, La Porte.
His greatest success in life was him living on in his three sons, who were his entire world. Mike deeply cherished his family, friends, cousins and colleagues. He enjoyed golfing, traveling and making people laugh. Michael will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
On May 13, 2006, in East Dundee, Illinois, he married Ashley (Gathman) Williams, who survives alongside his three amazing children, Michael Tiberius Williams, Spaulding Arthur Prescott Williams and Garth Harrison Williams, all of La Porte.
Also surviving are his father, Michael H. Williams of La Porte; his mother, Patricia A. Williams of Niles, Michigan; his brother, Patrick H. (Jamie) Williams of La Porte; father-in-law, Daniel J. Gathman of Elgin, Illinois; mother-in-law, Christine A. Gathman of Elgin, Illinois; sister-in-law, Allison D. (Brier) Dieckman of Hampshire, Illinois; brother-in-law, Adam M. Gathman of Elgin, Illinois; five nieces, Mikayla Gathman, Emily Gathman, Alayna Dieckman, Ariana Dieckman and Alexandra Dieckman; two nephews, Leonidas Williams and Gavin Gathman; one uncle, Dave E. Williams of La Porte; and many cousins.
Preceding in death were his maternal grandparents, Helene and Arthur Wojciechowski; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Mildred Williams; and one uncle, Jack L. Williams.
A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, 219-362-3100, with Pastor William Yonker officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept, 16, 2021, and Friday, Sept, 17, 2021, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Springville Cemetery, La Porte.
