Olga Sanchez, 91, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at Franciscan Hospital Michigan City, Indiana.
Olga was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Mexico City, Mexico, the daughter of Miguel Sanchez-Ramos and Margarita (Amor) Sanchez.
Growing up in Mexico City, on June 26, 1954, in Mexico City, Olga married the love of her life, Jose D. Sanchez MD, who preceded in death Oct. 30, 2010. Later they moved to the United States from Puerto Rico.
Olga's career in real estate was marked by her dedication and passion for helping others find their dream homes. She earned an associate degree, which laid the foundation for a successful professional life. Throughout her career, she became known not only for her expertise, but also for her warm and welcoming demeanor.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Olga had a rich tapestry of interests and hobbies. She loved to travel, always seeking out new experiences and cultures. Her adventurous spirit took her on many journeys, yet she found just as much joy in contributing to her local community.
Olga was deeply involved with the medical community, volunteering at hospitals and spearheading fundraising efforts that made a difference in the lives of many. An active participant in her neighborhood, she was proud to be a part of the Welcome Wagon and welcomed newcomers with open arms.
Her love for shopping brought her joy, as did her fondness for all things Disney, memories of which she shared warmly with family and friends.
Above all, Olga cherished her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose love extended to her cherished dogs. Her family meant everything to her, and she found immense happiness in their company and accomplishments. She will be remembered for her kindness, warmth and positive impact she had on all who knew her.
Olga is survived by her two daughters, Rose M (Bruce) Fisher of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Iris (Mark) Muccigrosso of La Porte, Indiana; son, Jose M (Julie) Sanchez of Poolesville, Maryland; sister, Martha Rodriguez-Amor (Carlos deceased) of Mexico City; eight grandchildren, Sabrina Sanchez, Olga M (Joe) Quigley, Tony (Tara) Lemus, Michelle Muccigrosso, Stephanie (Brad) Holden, Tony (Lynlee) Fisher, Ryan Fisher and Andy (Sandy) Fisher; and nine great-grandchildren, Robert Quigley, Sophie Quigley, Audrey Quigley, Liam Quigley, Kylie Holden, Claire Holden, Brayden Holden, Kit Holden and Seve Fisher
Olga was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years; parents; and sister, Irma Amor.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana, where the family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery. The family has chosen cremation.
