Phillip Seifert Obituary

Phillip Seifert, 76, of Westville, Indiana, passed away at home on Feb. 14, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born on May 8, 1947, in Michigan City, Indiana.

Phil retired from Bethlehem/ArcelorMittal Steel Mill after many years of dedicated service. Outside of work, Phil was a volunteer firefighter with the Scipio Township Fire Department and also volunteered with the Michigan City Civil Defense.

Phil was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; and their children, Debbie (Bryon) Traylor, Wendy Seifert, Shaun (Amber) O'Brien and Brandon (Megan) O'Brien. He was blessed with grandchildren, Danielle (Adam), Tyler, Dawson, Emma, Quinn, Chloe, Reese, Colin and Rowan.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Bernice; and his brother, Dale.

Phil grew up helping his family in their aquarium/pet shop – the Fish Bowl. His love of aquariums continued throughout his life. He also loved camping and sitting by the campfire with family and friends. He rarely missed a Covered Bridge Festival in Parke County, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life gathering is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the FOP Dunes Lodge 75 located at 416 U.S. 20 in Michigan City.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Southern Care Hospice Services in Valparaiso.
