Ronald Dombkowski Obituary

Ronald L. Dombkowski, 78, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at 11:54 p.m. in Methodist South Lake Hospital, Merrillville, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, with Brother Shaun Gray CSC officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

He was born Aug. 6, 1946, in Michigan City, Indiana. On July 5, 2003, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Dolores (Firanek) Dombkowski, who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.

Surviving are daughter, Najla (Gary) Jefferies of Westfield, Indiana; two sons, Jason (Cristie) Dombkowski and Ronald (Crystal) Dombkowski, both of West Lafayette, Indiana; step-daughter, Melissa Kunow of Michigan City, Indiana; two step-sons, Matthew (Mindy) Kunow and Jason (Jill) Kunow, both of Michigan City, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Alexandra, Dax, Samera, Blake, Brennan, Roberta and Jayda; two great-grandchildren, Robert and Dakota; brother, Richard (Carolyn) Dombkowski of South Bend, Indiana; and sister, Alice (David) Knoll of La Porte, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Dombkowski; mother, Jean Buchanan; sister, Mary Dombkowski; and six brothers, Dennis, Leonard, Michael, Phillip, Stanley and James Dombkowski.

Ron retired as a police officer from the Michigan City Police Department and then retired as a general foreman from the La Porte County Highway Department. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam and a member of American Legion Skwiat Post 451 (Past Commander and Honor Guard), V.F.W. 1130, D.A.V Chapter 23, F.O.P Dunes Lodge 75 and the St. Joseph Young Men's Society.
