Rosemary Martinez, 80, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church. Private family inurnment will be at a later date in Saint Stanislaus Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be said on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Rosemary was born May 31, 1943 in Monterey, Indiana to Lawrence and Rita (Daniels) Faulstich.
She is survived by her loving sons Steve (Rachelle), Charles (Courtney), Salvador (Jillian), Anthony (Hollie Aquino) and Thomas (Sarah Barnett) Martinez; she was the cherished grandmother to 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; beloved sister to, Ruth (Daniel) Hellman, Regina (Thomas) Hudson, Michael (Janet) Faulstich, Mark (Joyce) Faulstich, Matthew (Cheryl) Faulstich and Lawrence (Kay) Faulstich; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by one grandson, Kannen Martinez; her parents Lawrence and Rita and the father to her sons, Alfred "Marty" Martinez.
Rosemary was a retired registered nurse of 42 years. She retired from St. Anthony Hospital after 36 years in the OB and Pediatric Departments.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church and also attended Queen of All Saints Church. She was a devoted associate of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ. She was a very generous person, always donating her time and talents to help those in need. She loved doing puzzles, watching sporting events especially the Pan Am Games and Olympics, reading and spending cherished time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorials may be made to Breast Cancer Research and the family has requested that trees be planted in her memory.
