Sara Zervos Obituary

Sara E. Zervos, 76, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 2 p.m. in Franciscan Health Michigan City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana, with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, Indiana, is handling arrangements.

She was born Dec. 31, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late William and Anne (O'Toole) Connelly. On Aug. 7, 1976, in Palos Hills, Illinois, she married Daniel Zervos, who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.

Also surviving are two daughters, Agnes (Andrew) Orth of Temecula, California, and Ellen (David) Fitzgerald of Lockport, Illinois; six grandchildren, Cecelia Fitzgerald, Liam Fitzgerald, Matilda Orth, Miles Orth, Axel Orth and Nicholas Orth; four sisters, Anne (John) Garvey of Lockport, Illinois, Sister Kathleen Connelly of Leavenworth, Kansas, Mary B. (Harry) Watson of Chicago, Illinois, and Mary (James) Moster of Illinois; three brothers, James (Mary Ann) Connelly of Lemont, Illinois, George Connelly of Illinois and Richard (Pamela) Connelly of New Jersey; two sisters-in-law, Joan Connelly and Linda Connelly; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Connelly and Thomas Connelly.

Sara was an attorney who advocated for those in need. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Third Order Carmelite and as a child she attended St. Sabina Catholic Church, Chicago, Illinois. Sara was a volunteer for Northwest Indiana Parkinson.

She enjoyed praying, traveling, attending daily Mass and was actively devoted to her Catholic faith.
