Sarah Barnett Obituary

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, our hearts were shattered; our lives forever changed. Our beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandma "JaJa," aunt and friend left this earth. Sarah's soul has left this place where there are sorrows, pain, trouble and unjust. She was tired. We, as her family, take great comfort in knowing that her fight is over. She is at peace. She can no longer feel pain.

Sarah was deeply intuitive and sensitive. She felt the weight of the world for all her friends, family and herself. She dealt in her own way as she does with all things. Sarah loved to give gifts and make people happy. She would give you anything she had.

Sarah loved to sing. If you truly know her, you've heard her and she blew you away. Oh, she's up there directing or "bossing" the choir of angels around while Daddy plays the piano. Her love of all music, art, musicians, actors, artists, movies, musicals, oddities and all things macabre will forever be one of our most cherished memories.

She loved spending time with all her "kids." She'd play video and board games, anything they desired. Time with her family was her favorite. Our Sunday morning coffee time at Mom's was where we had the most intimate and fun conversations with so many laughs. Sarah loved to show us her funny reels and videos of her grand babies. Sarah's family and friends were her entire existence. Her favorite nickname was CAS – crazy Aunt Sarah! She loved showing off her "throwing knives," yes, we all laughed too!

Life on earth was not easy for Sarah. She fought and fought. To our heartache, she grew tired. God heard her heart call. There is no more pain Sarah, only peace.

One sweet precious day we will join you, Sarah. Until then, please let your spirit flow in, through, and around us all. We love you and don't know how to go on…

Left to cherish her legacy is her mother, "Maude" Rita Fay McLearen of Rolling Prairie; her daughter, Hope E. Durden (Josh) of Birmingham, Alabama; son, Braden A. Barnett, 17, of New Carlisle; grandchildren, Sydney, 9, Logan, 7, and Wyatt Hope, 3 months, of Birmingham, Alabama; her sisters, Lorie N. Cowgill (William) and Leslie Jo Quirk (Jason), both of New Carlisle; her nephew, Kamron Cowgill (Samantha) of South Bend; and nieces Kenadie, 16, and Kylie, 14, Quirk of New Carlisle; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends (too many to mention and all over the world).

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Opal E. Land and Paul E. McLearen; paternal grandparents, Bobby Jo and Nellie Jean Simmons; and her daddy, C. Dean "Deano" Simmons.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana.

A Funeral Service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, Indiana, where friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow.

Sarah, we love you and weren't ready for you to go. We may never get earthly answers, but one sweet day the sun will rise on each of us and on that morning, we will be together again in Eternity.
