Sherry Chessor Obituary

Sherry Lee Chessor, aged 76, passed away on Sept. 30, 2025, in North Judson, Indiana.

Born on March 13, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, Sherry was known for her caring, loving and resilient nature. Throughout her life, she embraced multiple roles with passion and dedication, from being a devoted mother to working as a waitress, a veterinary technician, and an author of two published poetry books, "My Tongue Fell Out" and "Poodlums, Boogeymen and Booglers."

Sherry's life was a testament to her love for her family and her interests.

She is survived by her daughters, Tina (Brad) and Julie (Matt); sons, James (Cheryl) and Jeremy (Vicki); grandchildren, Nicholas, Martha, Chenoa, Colton, Jena, Josiah and Elizabeth; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by special "nieces" Deanna and Shelly Walsh. A special thank you to Jim and Wanda Chessor for honoring Sherry and Ralphs wishes.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Chessor; her parents, Bill Jones and Charlotte Blankenship; brothers, Billy and Allen Jones; and her grandson, James Ashcraft.

Her hobbies, which included a profound love for animals, especially dogs, fishing with her husband, and singing with her family, brought immense joy to her and those around her. Sherry's life will be celebrated by spreading her ashes with those of her husband, in a place they cherished together. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Sherry can be made to your local animal shelter. This will honor her love for animals as she was a fierce advocate who volunteered and contributed to the rescuing and rehabilitation of our furry friends. Sherry's legacy of love, resilience and creativity will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
