Susan Dabagia Obituary

Susan E. Dabagia, 83, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, May 15, 2025. She was born on Oct. 31, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were John and Alma (Fredrickson) Johnson.

On Sept. 18, 1965, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Milt Dabagia, who survives, and she immediately fell in love with the city.

Susan is survived by sons, Dr. Mark (Melissa) Dabagia of Fort Wayne and Michael Dabagia of Los Angeles; step-daughter, Tammy Woodruff of Seattle; granddaughters, Morgan and Madison Dabagia; grandsons, Anthony and Dominic Getty; sisters-in-law, Nancy Dabagia and Sally Dabagia; her very special nieces and nephews; and countless close friends, including Kathy Bellamy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers-in-law, Lee Dabagia, Robert Dabagia and Norman Dabagia; and sister-in-law, Louise Dabagia.

Susan became a flight attendant for American Airlines in 1990 and retired after 29 years of loyal service. Susan was a devoted wife and mother, grandmother and aunt. She deeply loved her family and friends. Susan had a deep love for gardening. Her yard was always stunning, bursting with vibrant, abundant flowers. While she adored all animals, she had a special place in her heart for her cherished ragdoll cats – Noodle, Bebe and Charly.

Thank you to all of Susan's friends who have been so helpful and supportive during this time.

Friends may visit with the family at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, located at 613 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana, on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. with Rev. David Albertin officiating.

My beloved friend Susan will always be remembered in my heart for everything we did together since she started high school. She achieved so many wonderful things in her life and I cannot believe how much I miss her. Words cannot say all she meant to me, from Chicago to Michigan City as she treasured her family and husband and so much more. I will always have her in my heart forever. Barbara Allendorfer Atwater

I remember flying with Susan as she immediately took me under her wing as her 'daughter". I felt as if I knew her entire family as she always spoke about them so highly at work. Beyond sweet and caring towards me I felt her love and genuine gestures of kindness. She will always fill my heart with beautiful memories. Rest peacefully my sweet friend.

I met Susan when I joined the YMCA swim aerobics class in Michigan City. She had such a warm personality, sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. We shared a love of animals and was deighted to meet my puppy when we crossed paths at Brandts. I will miss her and give her family my deepest sympathy. Rosanne Johnson
