Theodore "Ted" Robert Woodfield was born in Lafayette, Indiana, to Wilbur Leroy and Edna Fern (Powell) Woodfield on Feb. 14, 1936.
He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and Purdue University, majoring in chemical engineering. During his years at Purdue, he enjoyed playing clarinet in the Purdue All American Marching Band and the Symphonic Concert Band.
On Feb. 2, 1958, he married the "most wonderful girl in the world," Marlene Joyce Brown, at the First Baptist Church in Lafayette. They moved to Michigan City, Indiana, later that year to begin his career and raise their family, including their children, Debra and Todd.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Marlene; two children, Deb (Bill) Krause of Mound, Minnesota, and Todd (Debra) Woodfield of High Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Marin Krause of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Leah (Michael) Jordan of Shoreview Minnesota, and KaylaMarie (Connor) Jones of Chamblee, Georgia; beloved great-grandsons, Dominic, Vincent and Simon Jordan; sister-in-law, Rosalie (Nathan) Wilson; niece and nephews, Rob (Jane Tompkin) Smith, Rob (Diana) Wilson, Nathana (Pat) Jarboe and Jeremy (Stephanie) Wilson; as well as other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Doris Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, and will feature singing of some of his favorite hymns. Family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church. His ashes will be interred at Montmorenci Cemetery, near his parents, grandparents and other Woodfield family members.
Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.
Memorials preferred to First United Methodist Church, 121 E. 7th Street, Michigan City, or the Purdue All American Band, Hagel Hall, 3rd and Russell streets, West Lafayette, IN 47907.
