Thomas "Tom" E. Schell, 84, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Tom was born on Jan. 31, 1941, in North Judson, Indiana, to Wilbert and Mary (Toohey) Schell.
On Aug. 26, 1989, he married Georgette "Georgie" Baggs, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Faith Goldenstern of La Porte; son, Thomas "Tommy" L. Schell of La Porte; grandson, Paul Goldenstern of Michigan City; sister, Doris Latimer of Mountain Home, Arkansas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, George Schell; siblings, Robert and twin brother Glenn (Peggy), Jim, Paul, Joe (Carol), Wilbert "Harvey," Mary "Kathy" (LaMar), and Gilbert "Bill"; brothers-in-law, Bill Snyder and David Latimer; and son-in-law, Ron W. Goldenstern.
Tom was a La Porte City firefighter for 20 years as well as previous owner-operator of Schell Heating and Air Conditioning for 15 years and an Indiana State Prison guard for 13 years.
He proudly served in the U. S. Navy.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Private Family Service has been held.
