Tobin L. "Toby" Babcock, 48, of La Porte passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, while vacationing in Orlando, Florida.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's United Lutheran Church, 2000 E. Coolspring Ave. in Trail Creek. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, from 3 to 7 p.m., and on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2022, from 9 to 11 a.m., both at the church.
Root Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Toby was born July 24, 1974, in Michigan City to Dennis A. and Jeanoma L. (Steele) Babcock, who are surviving in Michigan City.
Also surviving is one daughter, Abigail Babcock; one son, Matthew Babcock; Toby's fiancé, Jaime Scott; one brother, Blake Babcock; and many loving friends.
He is preceded in death by one sister, Tara Partin.
Toby was a police officer with the Long Beach Police Department for more than 17 years and a former La Porte County Sheriff's deputy.
Toby was a police officer, instructor, a competitive shooter, range officer, Blue Line Three Gun Shoot director and a member of the FOP Lodge 75. Toby spent 25 years in law enforcement serving his community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors), P.O. Box 3199, Camdenton, Missouri, 65020.

Condolences to his family who he loved unconditionally.....His daughter and his fiance brought him so much Joy! He was lived by all who knew him. The shooting family will not be the same without him. Hold on to the memories. Prayers for Peace and Guidance.
