Dr. Wayne A. Simerlein, 80, of Noblesville, Indiana, formerly of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, at 4:05 a.m. in Clearvista Lake Health Campus, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 818 Franklin St., Michigan City, Indiana, with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Burial will follow in Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso, Indiana. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, Indiana, is handling arrangements.
He was born Jan. 25, 1945, in Springfield, Illinois, to the late William and Dorothy (Oest) Simerlein. On July 1, 1972, in Michigan City, Indiana, he married Milenda Novakovich, who survives in Noblesville, Indiana.
Surviving are his daughter, Nina Simerlein of Indianapolis, Indiana; son, Ned E. (Allyson) Simerlein of Cheshire, Connecticut; and two grandchildren, Mila Simerlein and Lexie Simerlein.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Simerlein; and two brothers, John and Glenn Simerlein.
Dr. Simerlein was a chiropractor serving his patients in the Chesterton and Michigan City area for 55 years. He was in the U.S. Army Reserves serving during the Vietnam era and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Michigan City, Indiana, Indiana State Chiropractic Association and the American Chiropractic Association.
Wayne loved animals and enjoyed fishing, model trains, his John Deere tractor and being outdoors.
