William Bechinske Obituary

William M. Bechinske, 94, of Westville passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, at home.

He was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Chesterton to Frederick and Clara (Kaiser) Bechinske. On Oct. 31, 1953, he married Eilene Fay Rogowski, who passed away Feb. 13, 2021.

William is survived by his children, James Bechinske (Terri) of Westville, Diane Justice (Gary) of Westville, David Bechinske of Westville and Michael Bechinske (Laura) of La Porte; his grandchildren, Brett Bechinske (Jennifer), Eric Bechinske (Cassie) and Bradley Bechinske; and his great-grandchildren, Alyssa Bechinske, Lexi Bechinske and Carson Bechinske. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death his parents; daughter-in-law, Terri; and 12 brothers and sisters.

William was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis, the La Porte VFW Post 1130 and the American Legion Post 21 in Westville. He was a Korean Conflict Army veteran and worked as a crane operator at Crisman Sand Company in Portage, retiring from there in 1992.

Private family services and visitation are being held at Newhard Funeral Home in Westville. Rev. John Zemelco is officiating and burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Otis.
