Brian Frawley Obituary

Brian J. Frawley East Lansing Brian J. Frawley, 46, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012 after a courageous two year battle with colon cancer. Brian was passionate about many things, but his primary passion was his immediate and extended family. Whether ghost hunting with his children at Mackinaw or vacationing with family on Cape Cod, or in New York City, Brian brought fun and love to everything he did. Brian is survived by his wife of twenty-one years Kerry and their two sons, Ian, 14 and Luke, 10. His was preceded in death by his father Franklyn Frawley, whose wife, Frances survives him, and survived by his mother and step-father Johanna and Stephen Sepe and mother and father-in-law, Marian and John Celentano. His is also survived by his sisters; Pam Frawley, Patty Frawley, and Tatiana Beebe; brother Richard Frawley; step-brothers David (Shelly) Solomon and Joseph (Stefanie) Solomon; sister-in-law Sue Anne (Robert) Robinson; brothers-in-law Mark (Susanna) Celentano and Gregory (Heather) Celentano; and numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as "Uncle Butchy". When not enjoying his family, Brian was happiest either fishing or coaching soccer. He loved fly fishing in Michigan rivers and coaching soccer at the East Lansing Soccer Complex. The family welcomes friends to a visitation at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in East Lansing on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Brian's life will be held at St. John's Student Parish on Thursday, December 20th at 10:30 a.m. followed by a luncheon in Brian's honor. Brian Frawley .. another 'Friend Not Yet Met', has now become another whom I will not get to meet in this life.

Though Brian has left a gaping hole in the lives of those close to him, he has also left a serious dent in the lives he barely connected with: me being one of them, from Facebook.

Why you ask? How could I be affected by a person I barely knew? Well, if you must know ( And I REALLY think you should!!) here's why.

Brian posted stories on his Facebook page, not just of his fishing, but more of his family, his life as a soccer coach, his interactions with other people and seeing them are his heros. Brian Frawley was a caring person, who has left a Legacy of caring, for all of us. THAT is how he affected us. Yes .. US .. even those who barely knew him.

We can honor the memory of Brian Frawley when we allow his life actions to teach us one very important lesson:

>> No matter who we are; Where we are; we have the power to affect the lives of others. Therefore, let's do so with dignity, honor and love ... as those special people, like Brian Frawley, do.
Until another time Sir Brian - I look forward to meeting you.

Kerry, Ian and Luke, your dad decided to step in and coach our son, Nick, when his other coach had to quit. Nick learned more in that half a season from Coach Frawley than any of his previous coaches. He learned about caring, sportsmanship and that fun is the biggest reason to participate in sports. Brian's smile was infectious and his deep care and love for his community was evident in everything he did. Del and I send you our deepest sympathies and may your dad's memory be eternal.
