Brian Phillip Soderberg, 66, of DeWitt, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 after a hard fought battle with Aplastic Anemia.  Brian was born December 15, 1947, in Lansing, MI, the son of Rudolph Sixten and Evelyn Grace Soderberg.  He graduated from Everett High School in 1966.  Brian was General Manager of a property management company.  He was an Eagle Scout and member of Scouting's Brotherhood of the Order of the Arrow; dedicated newspaper boy; Greater Lansing Amateur Hockey Association board member; former president, Associated Builders and Contractors; General Contractor; carpenter extraordinaire; avid MSU fan, and loved boating, hunting, fishing and travel.  He especially enjoyed Pentwater, MI and Bonita Springs, FL. Above all, Brian deeply loved his family and friends, especially his 3 precious grandchildren. He was affectionately known to all as Big Daddy.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kristine; sons, Erik (Angela) and Craig (Melissa); "unadopted" son, Joseph Braska, and 3 beloved grandchildren, Reese, Cameron and Cooper; sister, Karen Guiles (Neil); brother, Mark Soderberg (Michelle) and sister, Marcia Soderberg; along with a niece and 3 nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elaine Soderberg; and nephew, Timothy Guiles.  His rescue dogs, Taz and Ollie, were constant companions.

At Brian's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Friday, August 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 North Bridge Street, DeWitt, 48820.  Interment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, Contributions - VEO1FS, 4100 John R, Detroit, MI 48201 or the DeWitt Millennium Garden Club, P.O. Box 52, DeWitt, 48820.

We were so sorry to learn of Brian's passing. It seems only yesterday we were at Holland Lake, holding up placards with numbers on them to rate Brian's waterskiing skills. And we will never forget the misty morning scenes of him on the paddle boat, going fishing with the dog on board. We send our sincere condolences on your loss. May peace be with you.

Many years back, our paths crossed in the construction business. He was a very warm and friendly person, who was easy to deal with. Prayers go out to his family and close friends.

Respects and condolences to the Family. BRIAN was the Big kid in the neighborhood, corner of Doris and Hilliard! I knew the way Brian handled himself and judiciouly ran his LSJ paper route, that he would go places and do well in life! And he did! Celebrate his life and don't mourn his passing, he is there waiting, patiently for you to follow him, in your own good time. Rest in Peace, Brian.
