Carolyn Parks Obituary

Carolyn Ann Parks Holt Age 73, died August 28, 2010 of pancreatic cancer. Carolyn was born in Dimondale, MI on March 27, 1937 to Charles and Marion Hutt, and graduated from Dimonadle High School, class of 1955. Carolyn was proceded in death by her parents, daughter Judy (Parks) Hall, and grandson Samuel Montoya. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Arlin Junior Parks, daughters Jill (Bernie) Montoya, Jan (Howard) Noppe, and son James Parks. She leaves behind granddaughters Karilynn, Kylie, and Kaytlin Noppe, and grandsons Timothy Montoya and Brayden Parks. Carolyn and Arlin met while working at Oldsmobile, and after the birth of their first child, Carolyn spent many years as a stay at home mother, never missing her children's many sporting events and school activities. Carolyn and Arlin were long-standing members of Christ United Methodist Church in Lansing, blessed by the fellowship and friendship of many in the congregation. In 1983, Carolyn returned to work at Schmidts Grocery (L&L) as a cashier, where she forged many cherished friendships with coworkers and customers. Upon retiring, Carolyn and Arlin moved from Holt to Marion, Michigan, where Carolyn continued to develop life-long friendships. Carolyn was an exceptionally devoted wife and mother, a giving and caring grandmother and a true and trusted friend. In her final days, Carolyn was especially blessed by the presence and care of her daughter Jill. The lives Carolyn touched leave a beautiful legacy and an aching void. Our lives are forever enriched by her presence and her love. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 517 W. Jolly Road, Lansing. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the American Cancer Society in Carolyn's memory.

Arlie, Jill, Jan, and Jim,
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. She was a very special person, whether she was taking care of our son Jim as a toddler or preparing her girls to be great babysitters (to all our sons) and, later, mothers to their own children. We know you are hurting, but you can feel blessed to have had such a wonderful wife and mother. Our love and prayers to you all.

It was indeed a sad news we got about Carolyn. I have known Carolyn from 1968 when I came from India to study at MSU, Lansing. She was my host family .The time I spent with Parks family are part of my family's memories.I met her a couple of times after I left Lansing and we continued our relationship despite the physical distance. All these years she was a sister to me. A few years ago my wife Aruna and myself visited the Parks family in Holt and she received us with great love and affection. We will miss her love and affection immensly. My life from the time I came to United States was enriched by the friendship and kindness of the Parks and Hutt Families. There are so many memories created over the years. I have so many fond memories of holidays spent at Dad and mom Hutt's house. I will miss my long chats with Carolyn and our laughter. She was such a positive person and made time for every one. My deepest symapthy to Arlin, Jill, Jan and Jimmy. With much love, Kasthuri.

Brayde Bear,
You have a very special Grandma. She always brought a smile to everyone she met. What great memories you have; you are a very fortunate boy to have had the awesome love of such a wonderful Grandma. I have to giggle when I think about the first time I met her. You will have to ask your Dad to tell you the story. We are loving you & sending you BIG "Huggy Tights" Buddy. We love you bunches.

There was nobody greater to work with at Schmidt's than Carolyn. She would always bring a smile to your face and cheer you up. I have always thought about her through the years but my heart goes out to the family and will always remember the great times that we could share a laugh. The Lord will greet her at the Golden Gates of Heaven.

Jan and Family,
