Daniel Chunko Obituary
Eaton Rapids - Passed away on August 7, 2018 at the age of 66. Dan was born on May 13, 1952 in Eaton Rapids, MI the son of John and Donna (Lawton) Chunko. He was a graduate of Springport High School Class of 1970 and went on to receive an Associate's of Electronics from DeVry University in Chicago, IL in 1972. Dan immediately moved to Texas to work as a Computer Technician. Dan lived and worked in Houston, Dallas and then Colorado Springs, Co as a Network Manager for Digital Equipment. When the company downsized he moved back to Michigan and went to work for Meridian Magnesium where he retired in 2014. He was an avid golfer and scuba diver, he and his wife Carolyn would make many dive trips to their favorite spot in Cozumel, Mexico. They also enjoyed traveling the Caribbean by cruise ship and were married on the Island of St. Thomas in 1997.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Chunko.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn (Gruesbeck) McNamara; son, Dan (Shelley) Cornell; step-children, Nicholas (Kristie) McNamara , Katy Cribley, and Kyle (Wendy) McNamara; grandchildren, DJ, Annie and Parker Cornell, Aaron and Ashley Brenner, Austin Friess, Amber Roush, Olivia and Morgan McNamara, Alex Blackwell, Keegan and Marhea Cribley, James and Hannah Wickman, Brayden and Emily McNamara; sister, Audrey (Lawrence) Bueche; brother, Thomas (Anna) Chunko; sister-in-law, Sandy Chunko and numerous extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Thrive Church in Eaton Rapids with visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
