Darryl John Parsell

Darryl John Parsell, J.D. Lansing A loving son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, colleague and friend, Darryl died August 24th at Hospice House in Lansing. Darryl was born July 25, 1952, the son of Stuart and Cecelia (Cluchey) Parsell and big brother of Georgie Murray, Suza Griggs and Andrea Rumsey. Darryl grew up in Olivet where he graduated from high school. He went on to college at Kalamazoo College and Michigan State University. He obtained his law degree from Cooley Law School. His career included corporate and private practice, public service as county prosecutor and law school administrator. His thirst for knowledge was life long and fueled his passion for reading and travel. He traveled around the globe always bringing gifts from countries afar for family and friends as he shared the tales of his travels. Darryl will be greatly missed by those who knew him. We will celebrate with a smile when we hear clever witted jokes like he was known for. Family and friends will meet in remembrance of Darryl at a joy filled gathering to be held on Sunday, September 19th at 1:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Cooley Center Building at 300 S. Capitol Avenue, Lansing, Michigan. Donations in Darryl's memory may be made to the law school for the benefit of the Alumni Memorial Scholarship Fund, which Darryl worked diligently to grow in his position as Director of Alumni Relations or Special Olympics, an organization he supported. Burial will be private.
