Dave Sauve was my 6th grade teacher (1970) at Forest View Elementary in Lansing. The first day of school he called me up to his desk and introduced himself. Turns out he was my late father´s (Rodney Shafley) skydiving partner and was there when he passed on July 4, 1968. Mr Sauve was very demanding of me during the school year and instilled in me a strong sense of worth. I have many fond memories.

David Sauve' gave us "the sky's the limit" attitude. He proved it so wonderfully by venturing above and below the oceans. David gave our family a gift, Holly, to share and we hold her to our hearts always. We will miss his presence, but I believe he's watching over his loved ones with a new parachute in the shape of a cloud.

Dave and I met through our many business adventures and I use the word adventures in lieu of ventures for the very fact that knowing Dave was an adventure. He became more than a mentor he became a trusted friend. He always had an optimistic outlook and will forever be remembered for his love of others and life. I will miss you Dave.

I have some of my best childhood memories at the Sauve' house! The zoo of animals, awesome pool, acres of woods to explore and the coolest house to hang out in. Dave and Linda always hosted a house full of kids, always made us welcome and happy! Dave is missed every day by all of us! His kind nature and giving spirit are qualities we should all work for. I am so sorry to his family, for losing their father, partner, grandpa and mentor! His presence will be missed always but I am certain his spirit is looking over many shoulders!
