Doris Mae Ericks

Lansing - Doris passed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on April 21, 2018. She was born October 8, 1924, in Levering, Michigan, to the late Lester and Ruth (Wilsey) Bayha.

Surviving are her son Jerry (Marsha) Ericks; grandchildren, Danielle Ericks, and Brent Ericks; great-grandchildren, Ezekiel Ericks, Victoria Ericks, and Ava Ericks; a sister, Ruth Melching; a special caregiver and niece, Mary Lou Ericks; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Hospice of Lansing especially Dr. James LaBerge, Jessica, and Ashley for the care and compassion they provided Doris.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Basil Ericks, a daughter Linda Ericks, a son Ronald (Loretta) Ericks, a grandson Christian Ericks, and siblings Frank Bayha, and Nona Edwards.

Doris was a graduate of Levering High School and later became the top shoe salesperson at J.W. Knapp's, after that she and her husband owned and operated the Travelers Hotel in Onekama, Michigan, and the Alpine Hotel in Walhalla, Michigan. After retirement she and Basil spent many years in Holiday, Florida, until their move back to Michigan residing with their son and daughter-in-law.

The funeral for Doris M. Ericks will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 5740 W. Holt Rd., Holt, MI 48842, with the Rev. Tom Vanderbilt officiating, interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Lansing or the Victoria and Ava Ericks Trust. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
