Eugene Restainer Obituary

Eugene "Gene" Restainer Grayling Eugene, 63, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Mercy Hospital with all of his family surrounding him. He was born June 16, 1945 in Standish, Michigan to Irene and William Restainer. He moved to Lansing in 1956 to live with his father and stepmother Bertha. He was a 1963 graduate of Lansing Eastern High School. He married his loving wife, Myrna, on June 10, 1967 in Lansing. Together they raised 7 children in Lansing until moving to Grayling in 1981. He leaves his wife, Myrna, and children Joni (Mike) Dunckel of Grayling, Jeannie (Doug) Girard of Grayling, Dustin Ellis (Jackie) of Grayling, Tammy Ellis (Michael) of Gaylord, Charles Ellis of Wacousta, Debra McKrill of Portland, OR. He Loved his 12 grandkids, Chad, Angela, Greg, Brooke, Anna, Shane, Lindsey, Nick, Sara, Matthew, Mikayla, and Brianna. Each of the kids owned a special part of his heart. He also had 5 great-grandkids. He also leaves a brother, Larry Restainer of Georgetown, Kentucky and sister-in-law Victoria Restainer of Williamsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Clayton, and daughter Lynnette. Eugene enjoyed watching the local football teams. He watched his grandsons faithfully, rain or shine. He had an assigned seat on the 50-yard line for Viking Football. The family has asked in lieu of flowers that a memorial donation be made to Grayling High School Football, c/o Tim Sanchez, 1135 North Old 27, Grayling, MI 49738 or Grayling Redskins Football, P.O. Box 1089, Grayling, MI 49738. A Celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2008 1:00 p.m. at Michelson Memorial UMC in Grayling, Michigan. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sorensonlockwood.com Arrangements entrusted to Sorenson-Lockwood Funeral Home in Grayling, Michigan.

Myrna....just to make you have a happy memory...I will sing "I'll waltz across texas with you" just kidding.
I am so sorry for your lose and OURS he will be missed greatly. Gene was always a good friend and will be remembered fondly. I will be there Saturday
