Gregory Barr Obituary
Lansing - Gregory W. Barr was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, February 1,1951 to William Ray and Dorothy Louise Barr (nee Horn).
Gregory graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1969 and from Lyman Briggs College, MSU in 1975. For most of his working life he was the President of Bill Barr, Inc. In his retirement, Greg worked tirelessly for the Fra-X association of Michigan, presided over ELBOPA, volunteered at The Peoples Church of East Lansing, pursued his hobbies of model trains and of Watsu Massage Therapy. He was a particularly adept amateur gourmet chef and his family enjoys the legacy of his annotated and improved recipes.
We will miss Greg's inventive mind, quick wit and generous spirit.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Abigail (and her extended family), his son William, daughter Guinevere (Ron) Dorado and granddaughter Miriam, his two siblings and their extended families. If, in our grief, we have forgotten anyone, please forgive us.
A Graveside Interment Ceremony at The Peoples Church of East Lansing is planned for late spring when the ground thaws.

Abby, Guinevere, William, and family, I was so sorry to hear of Greg's passing. Jane and I extend our deepest condolences.
So many memories of old times, mostly good (as with all old times, I guess). A loyal friend, a alumnus true to MSU and Briggs, a sharp and engaging wit. He will be missed.

Over the decades you and all of us (some of us from Lyman Briggs) have explored and considered a lot of ideas. Some were insightful. Some not. I met Greg when we were first crating the Lyman Briggs College program at Michigan State University.

Greg and I spent a couple summers working for his dad laying asphalt. Those were good times. He was a smart good person. God speed.

I only met Mr. Barr maybe once or twice, back when I roomed with Guinevere in college, but he was very kind, and seemed like a great guy. I think his family and the history of good works and memories that he leaves behind is a testament to what kind of man he was. I am so sorry for your loss.

I will always remember Greg's fabled Sunday "at homes" where the food was 5-star,the conversation sparkled and you never knew who might drop in.
Good times.
Greg was a good son-in-law. And I will miss him.
