Janice VanWert Obituary
Delta Township - Janice Kay VanWert, age 76, of Delta Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2018. She was born April 24, 1942 in Midland, Michigan, daughter to Donophan and Hazel (Dahl) Flauding. Janice was retired from Dow Chemical and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She was a shopaholic, an avid golfer; enjoyed decorating, playing bridge; loved her time wintering at Highland Woods in Bonita Springs, FL, and adored her dogs Ozzie and Casey.
Survivors include her daughter Michelle (Robert) Utrup, sons Thomas (Patti) and Michael (Shaunda) VanWert; 4 grandchildren: Matthew, Kelly, Hannah, and Patrick; sisters Joanne (Richard) Dulude and Linda (Steve) Schoberg. She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Kenneth VanWert and sisters, Barbara Hagebusch and Shirley Alswede.
In honoring Janice's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 7910 E. Joe Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917. Visitation with family will begin an hour prior and luncheon will follow services. For those wishing, memorial contributions can be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Ronald McDonald House.
