John Bernloehr Obituary

Dr. John C. Bernloehr Dr. John C. Bernloehr, 95, passed away at Ingham Regional Assisted Living in Lansing Wednesday December 31, 2008. John was born September 15, 1913 in Indianapolis, IN the son of Anna and John Bernloehr. As a boy John was an Eagle Scout. After completing high school during the Depression, he graduated from Pennsylvania State College of Optometry. John served his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. After the war, he practiced optometry in Battle Creek and Bronson, Michigan. Besides his optometry office, John operated a dairy farm where he raised beef cattle, bees and a nursery. After retiring from his optometry practice, he opened a satellite television business. Members of John's family include his daughters, Ann (Jim) Lipkowitz of Grand Ledge, Carolyn (Michael) Insler of Chattanooga, TN; a son, Dr. Bruce (Sandy) Bernloehr of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Landon Bernloehr of Battle Creek and Adrian Kaylor or Atlanta, GA; and a step-grandson, David Nice; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dr. Wilber Bernloehr; sisters, Lee Daily and Evelynne Daily; an infant son, Chris; and his beloved wife of 61 years, Helen. A celebration of John's life will take place 2 pm Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Grand Ledge Country Club located at 5811 St. Joe Highway in Grand Ledge. Memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association. The family would like to sincerely thank all of the dedicated care givers at Ingham Regional Assisted Living for there personal and loving care. Mr. Bernloehr,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
