John Hershiser Obituary
John "Paul" Hershiser passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the age of 96. He was born November 25, 1918, in Lansing, MI, to Russell and Thursa Hershiser.
His siblings were Doris Hill, Dorothy Morgan and Russell Jr. All have pre-deceased him.
He married Maxine Bonewits in 1941, who died in 2002 after 60 years of marriage. They had four children, Ann Stiern (Tom), Paula Cosgrove (Frank, deceased), John (Faith), and Ellen Thelen (Larry). There are four grandchildren: Andrew Franklin, April Kutheis, Michael Cosgrove, and Matthew Thelen. Vivian and Cecilia Kutheis are his two great granddaughters.
Paul was a WWII veteran and then worked as a letter carrier until he retired. After retirement, he and Maxine moved to Florida, where they lived for a number of years. They moved to Cape Albeon in 2000, to be near family when he became blind.
After Maxine's death, Paul met Viola Glen, and they had a wonderful friendship. She passed away in March of 2014.
A memorial service was held on Saturday the 17th, at the chapel at Cape Albeon, 3380 Lake Bend Dr., Valley Park, MO 63088, at 10:15. In lieu of flowers, Paul requested a contribution be made to the St. Louis Society for the Blind, 8770 Manchester Rd., St. Louis, MO 63144.

It is said that when someone you love becomes a memory. The memory becomes a treasure. While that may be true. From what I've heard from Faith. And reading his memorial tribute. He already was a treasure! Please except my heartfelt condolences.
