Jon Arendsen Obituary
Lansing - Jon Norman Arendsen, age 76, a long time Lansing area businessman, passed away on September 19, 2018 at his home. Jon was born on July 23, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Norman E. and Jean P. Arendsen.
He was a man of many interests including scuba diving, woodworking, acquiring his pilot's license, and enjoying beautiful sunsets at the beach with sketch pad in hand. He was a dedicated member of his son's pit crew, and enjoyed many hours at the races.
Jon was co-owner of Arendsen Jewelers until his retirement. He was passionate about jewelry design and created several award winning pieces throughout his career. His designs were inspired by nature, the personalized wishes of his clientele, and the delightful scribbles of his young daughter. A highlight of his career was a visit to the DeBeers Diamond Mines in South Africa.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Susan Bedenbender Arendsen; son Jon E. Arendsen (Lori) and daughter Jessica N. Andrejczuk (Jonathan); grandchildren Liliana, Brantley and Aubriella; and siblings Mark (Debbie) Arendsen, Trea Arendsen and Kevin Arendsen.
A special thank you to Sue's family for their love and support throughout the years; to family friends Tracie Slocum and Melinda Marlatt; Great Lakes Caring Hospice; and to Jon's nurse, Anjil Tyler, for her special dedication to his care.
Jon's wishes were that his body be donated to Michigan State University.
An open house Celebration of his Life will take place at La Fille Gallery located at 336 E. Michigan Avenue Lansing, Michigan on October 12, 2018 from 5:30-8:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Library of MI. Foundation at P.O. Box 30159 Lansing, MI 48909.

I owe so much to the Arendsens, Norm, Mark, Jon E and Jon, Jon was more then a great jeweler he was also a very smart businessman. I started in the jewelry business with very little knowledge and what would become a 25 year friendship, Jon would share his knowledge, ideas, and expertise to help me in my business. I will never forget that, I look at this picture and that is how I will always remember Jon with his smile, a loop in his hand or at lunch sketching out a design on a napkin
