Jose Hernandez Obituary

Jose Alfonzo Hernandez Haslett Jose Alfonzo Hernandez was born in Prescott, Arizona, the 19th of September 1928, to Demetrius Hernandez and Jesus Lopez. He died in Haslett, Michigan June 28, 2009. Staff Sergeant Major Hernandez was retired from the U.S. Army, Special Forces, with thirty years of service. He was decorated with the Master Parachutist Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Civic Action Honor Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star. A hero to his nation, he was also a hero to his family and friends. Jose was married for 31 years to the late Patricia J. Krummen. He is survived by four children, Melinda (Stan), William (Cindy), Robert (Barb), Elizabeth (Mike); eight grandchildren; one Brother, Ismeal (Catalina); one sister, Socorro Lira;and many nieces and nephews, who all love him dearly. Family will receive friends Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. @ Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place, Monday, July 6, 2009, @ 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fayetteville, NC. Jose will be buried in NC next to his wife.
