Lillian Northup Obituary

Lillian "Zoe" Northup, 84, of Valley Mills, went to be with her Lord Friday, Nov. 11, 2011. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Valley Mills Cemetery followed by an 11 a.m. Memorial service at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Zoe was born Oct. 28, 1927, to Ernest and Velera (Calfee') Ficklin, the second of three children. She spent most of her life in the Valley Mills - Mosheim area. She graduated from Mosheim High School in 1945. She went to work for WM Cameron & Company in the office in Waco. On June 20, 1946, she married Ansel Northup. They made their first home in Broadbent, Ore. It was here their first child, Mary, was born. They moved back to Texas in 1949, and their second child, Linda was born. The family moved back to Oregon and it was there that Ansel was killed in a logging accident. After that she moved back to Valley Mills and married Gerald Northup in 1957. He preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dede Oliver; a sister, Margie Thiele; and a brother, Jack Ficklin.

It was in 1943 that Zoe accepted Jesus as her personal savior and was baptized at the Mosheim Baptist Church. Through out the years she continued to serve the Lord in many aspects of the church.

Zoe received her nursing degree from Goodall-Witcher Hospital in 1964. She continued to work for Goodall-Witcher Hospital for 20 years in all phases of nursing. She was Texas League Vocational Nurse of the year in 1973.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann Soukup and husband, Frank, of West, and Linda Johansen and husband, Ronnie, of Valley Mills; two granddaughters, Melissa Crow and husband, David, and Jennifer Seamanski and husband, Jon; five great-grandchildren, Kelly Ray Oliver II and wife, Megan, Gage Oliver and wife, Chelsea, James Crow, Seth Seamanski, and Sarah Seamanski; two great-great-grandchildren, Rylan Oliver and Khloe Oliver. She is also survived by six sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to either the Valley Mills Cemetery Association or to the Valley Mills Fire Department. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Foss Funeral Home.
