Linda Hilley Obituary

Linda Pearl Hilley Lansing Linda Pearl Hilley, aged 56, of Lansing, went to her Lord on Friday, October 17, 2008 while a patient at Sparrow Hospital following complications of pneumonia. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Madonna "Donna" Hilley and Carlisle "Lefty" Hilley of Lansing and brother, Tom Hilley of St. George, UT. Surviving are her twin brothers, Jack Hilley of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and John Hilley of Eldorado, IL; brother, Terry (Judy) Hilley of Clarksville, MI; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Linda was born in Lake Odessa, MI on September 26, 1952 and grew up in Grand Ledge where she graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1973. She had been a long-time resident of Lansing where she had been employed for many years at the Sheraton Inn. Linda had been a 30 year member of the Arthritis Foundation where she volunteered countless hours. Although Linda had a life filled with health problems, she remained an inspiration to all who knew her with her iron constitution and witty sense of humor. Linda rarely complained of her problems and always brought out the best in others. It was only with the huge support and generosity of a large circle of friends that Linda was allowed to live her dream of never having to leave the comfort of her little red brick house in south Lansing. To those many people, we, her family, are eternally grateful. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22 at the South Church of the Nazarene (401 W. Holmes Rd., Lansing) with Pastor Harold DeMott officiating. There will be a time to greet the family beginning at noon on Wednesday, and at a luncheon following the service. Private family interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, or South Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements were made by the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.

I will always remember You Linda..you had a way of making my minor aches and pains seem like nothing compared to your daily struggles, Which never kept you down. Your insight into what others should be doing instead of complaining were wise beyond your years. I will never forget you..I am glad that Angie has you by her side now. Dorothy

Dear Hilley Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Linda for numerous years here at the Sheraton and she always was a ray of sunshine with her possitive attitude and outlook. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Linda was a dear friend of my sister, Mary. Whenever I visited Lansing, there was invariably a "cook-out" at Mary and John's and Linda was always included. As the years went by it became natural to either see Linda on my visit or to receive a "hi, hope you have a good visit" from her. This year was no exception. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends...I know she will be missed.

Linda was my best friend in high school. We would cruise the gut on the weekends in her mothers black ninety eight with the top down. We would sing Delta Dawn at the top of our lungs even when we new we were not singers. We even went crusing in Black Beauty (that's what we named her mothers car) with her mother because she was cool like that.Linda and I went and did everything together. She took Dale and I to the hospital the day my first daughter was born.I will never forget that day,She came over at 6:00 am to pick us up and Dale was washing his hair. She came in the house and said oh my god Dale, she is going to have a baby and you are washing your hair. There are alot of memories in my heart and mind of Linda and I could go on and on but it would never stop.We still kept in touch over the years, but not as much as we should have.I am so sad to see her gone, but glad to know as my best friend.I am going to miss you,Linda my sweet dear friend. I will always think of you as time goes on. I loved you like a sister.Barb
