Roberta Brandt Obituary

Roberta J. "Bobbi" Brandt Bellevue Roberta J. "Bobbi" Brandt, 81, of Bellevue, died on Monday, May 7, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family. Bobbi, as she preferred to be called, was born to nurture on April 26, 1931, in Harden County, Ohio. Weighing only 3lbs, 3oz, a very small start for such a long and happy life. She was preceded in death by her mother Marie Greenwalt and her father, Donald Greenwalt of Bellevue, Michigan She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1950. A fighter from her first breath to her last, she is survived by her husband Duane "Duke" Brandt of Bellevue, children, Diane (Kim) Brandt of Durango, Colorado, Carol (Ernie) Buie of Greenville, Tennessee, Sally Brandt-Taylor of Bellevue, and Connie (Rick) Dayton of Battle Creek. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two sisters; Carolyn Green of Battle Creek, and Phyllis Mann of Sarasota, Florida. Her dedication and love for family was number one. She raised and nurtured four independent, strong, creative women. She taught 4-H sewing and supported her daughters and grandchildren at the local county fairs through many years. She was a distinguished sheep breeder and herdswoman in her own right for fifteen years. She was a "foodie" long before the Food Channel. She was a great cook known for potato salad, goulash, meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, meatballs, enchiladas, and pies. She loved company and was known as a very gracious generous hostess. She also playing euchre and cribbage and beating her husband Duke at cards. It was always a joy to watch Bobbi and Duke dance. Bobbi taught him to dance at the White Rabbit Dance Hall all those years ago. She enjoyed spending time in the garden and in her flower beds, loved going to auctions, and being on the move. Bobbi loved traveling, and she was curious about history and the world at large. She was known as a flashy dresser, with style and finesse, and her natural beauty was brought out by her favorite color, red. Bobbi's loving and warm smile was most beautiful when with her mother, sisters, and especially when she was with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When everyone was together the room sang with laughter! A memorial luncheon will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Bellevue United Methodist Church, 122 West Capital Ave., Bellevue MI, from 1-4pm, in the fellowship hall. Arrangements are by Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 723 US27 N., Marshall.
