Russell Holliday Obituary
Holt
Passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the age of 83. Russell was born on September 3, 1932 to the late Mark and Gladys (Ransom) Holliday in Lansing, MI. He was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served during the Korean Conflict. After he was honorably discharged as a decorated soldier earning a Bronze Star, he began working for the Lansing Fire Department where he retired as Battalion Chief after 30 years. He was a private pilot, avid fisher, hunter, and outdoorsmen, and loved his family and the time spent with them.
He is preceded in death by his brother Mark Holliday. He is survived by his three children, Kim Griswold, Scott Holliday, and Terri (Jeff) Parker, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Barbara Holliday, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Holt Chapel with Rev. George Stehle officiating. The family will receive friends and family Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the service at the funeral home. Private inurnment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the IAFF Local 421 Honor Guard in memory of Russell. Contributions may be made to www.palmerbush.com.

We knew Russ from the Sam Corey Senior Center. He enjoyed traveling and Wed lunches. He was a perfect gentleman, had a great sense of humor and was very proud of his family. He loved telling Mark how he could drop an ice cube off his balcony in Hawaii right into the Pacific Ocean! We will miss him very much but also celebrate a life well lived. God Bless his family.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers... Dad fought the congestive heart failure as long as he could and is now pain-free in heaven with his parents, brother and friends.

I had the honor of getting to know Mr.Russ while working at Great Lakes Christian Homes. Mr.Russ would always greet me with a warm smile and sparkling eyes, he always looked so dapper. May his kindness and selflessness live on through those who admired him. You will be dearly missed Mr. Russ

The Holliday Family has been a part of our precious memories while growing up and visiting Horsehead Lake many times. My Aunt Dot and Uncle G built their cottage alongside The Hollidays. Both Mark and Russ remained friends to my family over the years. A sad day for us! Rest well good friend, rest well!
