Shawn L. Witherspoon

Age 63, passed away unexpectedly March 1, 2017. She was born July 1, 1953, in Lansing, to Ralph and Alice Griese. Shawn received her bachelor's degree from Alma College and her master's from Michigan State University. She worked for the State of Michigan for 25 years primarily as an Education Consultant. Shawn had been a dedicated and competitive runner for nearly 40 years. She found both baking and sewing to be relaxing past times and had a deep love for cats. Her interests were many as were her friends.

She is survived by: her husband of 26 years, Lyle Witherspoon, older brothers Richard (Jane) Griese and Garth (Chris) Griese, along with a number of nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents.

At this time, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in memory of Shawn Witherspoon. Online condolences may be left for her family at www.EstesLeadley.com
