Dick, Sydney, Denise and Dave... May you be blessed with the strength to get through this time. I have spent the last few days thinking about all the times Steve made me laugh. All the times Steve got me in trouble. From K through 12, he was always primed to start mischief with many of us. He would then “bow out” just before the teachers showed up. We would be caught red-handed and Steve would grin as he walked past the principals' office as we sat waiting for our punishment. As we grew older, I think of the times we enjoyed a beer together, laughing of old times and discussing politics, hunting and real estate. Steve was a great friend and classmate. He will be missed enormously.

I like to think that Steve is making way for everyone he loved as he takes on the other side. I am deeply thankful for all laughter-filled R&R and problems resolved with Steve's quick wit, cogent insights, and generous wise counsel readily available. Steve is loved! A broad community of wonderful people will deeply miss Steve Cheney. My depression over Steve's departure is only balanced by my very happy memories from the span of our friendship. God speed Steve!
