Toufic N. Jildeh

Toufic N. Jildeh Mason Toufic passed away July 6, 2009. He was born in Jaffa, Palestine the son of Nakhleh and Lulu (Ayyad) Jildeh. Toufic graduated from the Friends School in Ramallah and went on to law school in Palestine. In 1948, when his country was lost, he and his family resettled in Ramallah, and earned his living by teaching mathematics. He then came to Michigan State College where he started over and earned a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for the Michigan State Highway Department for 36 years and retired in 1991 as an Electrical Squad Leader. His final career was to help raise his only grandchild, Toufic. He was a lifetime member of F&A Masons, Okemos Lodge 252. He married Aida Musallam on May 17, 1957. Mr. Jildeh is survived by his wife, Aida; children, Mona and Raja (Deeann); grandson, Toufic; brother, Rizik (Amal); cousin, Michel (Noha) Tarazi and family; and local relatives, Katy Jildeh, Samir (Lori) Jildeh, Samia (Foad) Haddad, Marwan and Nadia Taqtaq, Najwa Musallam, and their families. He was preceded in death by brothers Sami, Hannah and Elia, and sisters Selwa, Alice and Hanneh. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with Fr. George Shalhoub of Basilica of St. Mary, Livonia, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8 and 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, July 9 and one hour prior to the service time on Friday.
