I was so sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Schrauben. He took care of all of my animals over the years and even kept my little Sheltie with him while he was trying to diagnose what was wrong with her. He was always so kind and compassionate and I always felt like he cared for my dogs as much as I did; especially when he had to help them cross over the rainbow bridge. He surely has lots of furry friends on the other side.

I still miss Dr. Schrauben and the kind of warm, compassionate veterinary care he provided. I miss his sense of humor and gentle style and the time he took to just talk and bond with his clients. He deserved a good retirement after his years of service, and I'm still sad that it didn't turn out that way. I hope he is enjoying seeing all of his furry friends on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

We were deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Schrauben's passing. Our hearts go out to his family. He was such a good person who deserved only the best out of life. He took care of nearly all of our dogs when he worked with Dr. Acton and then after he purchased Arbor Hills Veterinary Clinic until he retired. Like Dr. Acton before him, he was a kind, warm, compassionate veterinarian who laughed and cried with us, and we have missed him dearly. He offered personal service that is hard to find anymore. We especially appreciated that he lived on the premises. We felt totally comfortable boarding our dogs there because we knew Dr. Schrauben was giving them special attention. I recall him once mentioning that he had let them sit in his living room with him in the evening. We will always have fond memories of Dr. Schrauben and all he did for us.

We are so sorry to hear of our dear Spring Arbor Road neighbor and Buffy's Dr. Schrauben's passing. Each time we pass we realize he is no longer our neighbor and have happy memories of the calm concern he always showed for her and when her time came he was so compassionate at our loss. We wish his family our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. He was a kind man and his light will shine in their memories. --Janey and Dave Steele

Dr Schrauben has taken care of our dogs since the 70's. He was always kind, caring and compassionate. I can still see him picking up my 100# baby and stepping on the scale as if he were light as a feather!
On behalf of Jefferson, Alex and Bristol, thank you for always being there for us! We are blessed to have known you!

Dr. Schrauben, you were a master at making positive choices in your daily practice and a huge influence that made every office visit more enjoyable. Also you developed a bond with the clients and their pets over their lifetime. You understood the importance of their bond to their pet. I was one of the people who remember Dr. Schrauben from when he first took over the practice. He was always very compassionate and caring. When we boarded our dogs with him he always provided extra care for them, including letting them wander around the clinic. Godspeed, and my condolences to the family.

In high school, I took a class that required you to get a job (volunteer/internship) in the field you were interested in someday going to college for, and getting a career in. Someone back then had the wonderful grace and foresight to direct me to Arbor Hills Veterinary Clinic where I met Dr. Schrauben. He took me in at the age of 16 to work in his clinic and I got my start in veterinary medicine. After I graduated, he officially brought me on board as a full-time employee. He was one of my first true mentors. He encouraged me, supported me, taught me whatever I wanted to know. I will never forget my first blood draw, all the tips he gave, all the mornings spent in surgery while listening to Bob and Tom, his old-school ways, and the smell/atmosphere of that clinic. Not a single time did I ever witness him lose his patience with a person or animal. We talked about me going to tech school and vet school. Many years later, he would still answer my calls when I had a question. He would still greet me with enthusiasm when I dropped by to say hi. We would still find each other to chat at conferences. This world lost an incredible soul; a compassionate, kind, honest, and gentle individual, a wonderful father, true family man and a die-hard spartan fan :) Though my heart is sad for this world's loss, it is happy that he will finally be reuinted with Denise.

My heart goes out to the Schrauben family. Dr. Schrauben was vet to many animals in my home over many years. I never met a more empathetic, kind, caring man! He was wonderful with my animals, and spent last minutes with more than one. They felt his love as well. The world is a sadder place with his loss. Sincerest condolences.

Dr. Schrauben was our vet from the time he took over from Dr. Acton until he left. We knew we could always count on him to be honest, kind, compassionate and available, no matter what the time of day or night. I remember several times, calling him late at night with an emergency, and he was always there, ready to help. He was not only our vet, but our friend as well.
We send our heartfelt sympathy. And hope that you're memories will somehow comfort you. Godspeed Dr. Schrauben.

He was one of those individuals who, through his exceptional skills, was doing exactly what he was put on earth to do. I will always remember, and be forever grateful for his caring and compassionate attention to our dogs.
